About Anslem
Engineer by training. Accountant by profession. Giver by conviction.
Anslem Oshionebo is a Dallas-based philanthropist, engineer and chartered accountant who believes every child deserves the tools to build a better future.
Why I give
I grew up in Nigeria in a community where children wanted to learn but many families could not afford books, uniforms or fees. Poverty, not a lack of ambition, kept bright children out of school. Yet those families had a joy and generosity that poverty could not take away. That experience shaped everything I do. Children are born without a choice about their circumstances; the rest of us can choose to help.
Giving in Nigeria
Since 2015, through the Anslem Esi Foundation, a privately funded initiative, I have donated chairs, tables and learning materials to elementary schools in Edo State. In January 2020 we presented 80 desks to Usagbe Primary School in Fugar and Oyagha Primary School in Uzairue. In January 2026, together with fellow philanthropists and in memory of my late father, I helped restore electricity, clean water and medical equipment at the Jattu Primary Health Centre, which had gone more than eight years without power.
Serving in Dallas
Closer to home, I teach four-year-olds at my local church and coach a youth soccer team. Both remind me every week that the early years shape everything that follows, and that showing up consistently is one of the most powerful gifts an adult can give a child.
Professional journey
I began my career as an engineer, working in oil and gas and construction management, before moving into technology and finance. I spent years with PwC in Nigeria and the United States, including a two-year rotation in the firm's National and Technical Accounting Research Office. I am a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), a US Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), with more than 18 years of experience in finance, strategy and operations.
Today I lead Tenaza Asset Recovery & Intelligence as CEO and President and Haricot Energies Limited as Managing Director and CEO. My professional biography and articles are on anslemoshionebo.com. My training as an accountant and fraud examiner shapes how I give: with clear goals, careful records and honest reporting.
Recognition
In September 2020 I was honoured with the Immigrant Professional Excellence Award at the Immigrant Journey Awards in Dallas.
